Here's the gist of what we've found: regardless of what $y=f(x)$ looks like, if
i. $\quad g(x) \leq f(x) \leq h(x)$ close to $x=a$ and
ii. $\quad \lim _{x \rightarrow a} g(x)=\lim _{x \rightarrow a} h(x)=L$,
then $\lim _{x \rightarrow a} f(x)=L$, too. The curves $y=g(x), h(x)$ squeeze $y=$ $f(x)$ into $L$ as $x \rightarrow a$, hence the name "squeeze theorem."
挤压(或三明治)定理指出,如果 $f(x) \leq g(x) \leq h(x)$ 对于所有数字,井且在某个点 $x=k$ 我们有 $f(k)=h(k)$ ,那么 $g(k)$ 也必须等于它们。我们可以使用该定理在 $x=0$ 处找到像 $\sin (x) / x$ 这样的扱限,方法是在两个更好的函数之间"挤压" $\sin (x) / x$ ,并使用它们在 $x=0$ 处找到极限。
